Natural Support for Prediabetes, Diabetes & High Cholesterol

Dr. Karrina Wallace meeting with a new client in her office.

Metabolic health care focused on prevention

Personalized naturopathic care for prediabetes and insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and other risk factors for heart disease.

Much of our work is helping people change course early: taking someone with prediabetes and helping prevent diabetes, or working on high cholesterol from a nutritional standpoint to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke.

We use lab testing and a detailed review of your health history, family history, diet, and lifestyle to understand what is driving your numbers, then build a realistic plan you can stick with. We may also recommend a short-term continuous glucose monitor (CGM) along with a diet diary to assess ways to support your blood sugar levels on an individualized basis.

Your care may include nutrition counseling, lifestyle coaching, targeted supplements, herbal medicine, regular lab monitoring, or imaging such as a calcium score or echocardiogram. We will refer to cardiology, endocrinology, or back to your primary care doctor as needed. Naturopathic care can be used alongside medications you already take, and we are happy to coordinate with your primary care provider.

Metabolic Care That Looks for Root Causes

Rather than simply managing symptoms on the surface, we look for the underlying factors that may be contributing to your concerns so treatment can be tailored to your body, your history, and your goals.

We may evaluate:

  • Fasting glucose, A1c, and insulin levels
  • Cholesterol and triglyceride patterns
  • Blood pressure and other heart health risk factors
  • Weight changes and body composition
  • Thyroid function
  • Sleep, stress, and adrenal stress response
  • Diet, activity, and daily habits
  • Family history and personal risk factors
  • Current medications and supplements

We also review prior lab work and order additional testing or referrals when needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can naturopathic care help with prediabetes?

Yes. Prediabetes is one of the most common reasons patients see us. Nutrition and lifestyle changes can make a meaningful difference, and we build a plan around your labs, habits, and goals.

Do you work with people who have type 2 diabetes?

Yes. We support people with type 2 diabetes alongside the care they already receive. Please do not stop or change any prescribed medication without talking to your prescriber.

Can you help lower cholesterol naturally?

We work on high cholesterol from a nutritional standpoint, with diet changes, lifestyle support, and supplements when appropriate, and we recheck your labs to track progress.

What labs do you order?

Depending on your history, labs may include fasting glucose, A1c, insulin, a lipid panel, thyroid testing, inflammation markers, and vitamin and mineral testing.

Will I have to follow a strict diet?

No. We focus on realistic, sustainable changes that fit your life, not a one-size-fits-all diet.

Can you work with my primary care doctor?

Yes. We are happy to coordinate with your primary care provider or specialist so your care stays connected.

How long before my numbers improve?

Every person is different. Many people see changes in their labs within a few months of consistent changes, and we monitor your progress at follow-up visits.

Do you take insurance?

Generally, no. Due to Colorado state licensing restrictions, we do not bill insurance for our natural health services. Please visit our Scheduling & Fees page for details.

Is this only for people who already have a diagnosis?

No. Many patients come to us for prevention, especially if diabetes or heart disease runs in their family or their labs are starting to trend in the wrong direction.

What’s the first step?

The first step is to schedule a new patient appointment. If you’d like to make sure the practice is the right fit before booking, you can also schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
